Mid-Term Elections in Texas
While Beto O’Rourke didn’t win his upset bid to unseat Sen. Ted Cruz for U.S. Senate, it appears he helped cast a long shadow for down-ballot races in Texas, primarily in the major urban areas of Harris County (Houston), Dallas County (Dallas), Tarrant County (Ft. Worth), Travis County (Austin), as well as the surrounding communities. And while no statewide Republican lost, several GOP seats flipped - 2 Congressional, 2 Texas Senate, and 12 Texas House. Here is a one-page summary of the races we were watching closely. Among those not returning to the Texas Capitol in January is a member of the House Insurance Committee. Representative Rodney Anderson, who also spoke at our Round Up this year, unfortunately lost his House seat on Tuesday. Anderson was a member who understood the insurance industry and was willing to listen on our issues. He will be missed.
